Export data from Appian table to excel

Hello All,

My requirement is to export data from Appain database to export and further schedule it to create export excels on daily basis.

I can see there is appian smart service to export data source entity to excel , but not really sure how to use it

And how to export excel to local drive from Appian Production server ?

Can you please help me ?

Fetch the data from the table and store it in a CDT. Then use the "Parse CDT to Excel" Smart Service to export the CDT to excel.

You can export the data from a Data Stro Entity, yo can check all the documentation of the Smart Service.

The clue of the Smart Service is to Select the different columns with a QuerySelection. You can filter or aggregate it with another two options of the smart service.

You can use the Excel Tools Plugin too -> forum.appian.com/.../summary

But this is not a good practice, because you'll have performance problems for sure.

To schedule the export, you can use a Timer Event to Start this process in an exact hour every day...

Thanks for you reply.

I have managed to use smart service to export a excel . But it is by default downloaded to 'Downloads' folder.

Is ther any way / function to schedule export to specific folder on my machine

E.g C:\Onkar Kulkarni\Appian\ Export

My requirement is to get the excels in this folder on weekly basis.

Hi onkarkulkarni,

We Can use Export To Excel/Csv Smart to fetch the data from database to excel and after we have few smart services available under file system services where we can export and read documents form local folder.By using those smart services you can export to specific folder on your machine.

Yes you can use the "Dowload File To Disk" plugin -> community.appian.com/.../download-file-to-disk

I have used Export to excel/CSV smart to fetch data from DB. Its working fine
Could you please name the smart service which I can use to store document in local folder. I somehow not able to find any such smart service.

Hi Onkar,

In Filesystem Services we have Move to Filesystem smart service in which we need to provide destination and document. Based upon the value for destination it will export the document to specified location.
