Appian Community and Appian Academy are being upgraded. As a part of the upgrade, Appian Community is currently in read-only mode, and user registration is disabled until August 3. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but a more secure, stable, and performant Community experience is coming soon!
The new Appian Community launches August 3, followed by Appian Academy on August 7. During the migration, Appian Community Edition, Appian Academy, Documentation, Certifications, Instructor-led Customer Training, Partner Sales Training & Accreditation, and Forum (for Appian Partners and Customers only) will remain available.
While deploying the application from dev to uat , got above error after importing the patch strange it didn't give any error's or warning while inspecting the application patch but after importing the app in the error log got an error saying the "Expression Rule Object can't be imported because of the above mentioned error."
Note: This ER was not used in any process model , it had a proper unique name and security was mapped properly .
Resolved: This issue got resolved once i duplicated the same object with a different name and then created the patch for the same and deployed it into UAT.
Can someone suggest the reason for this error even when the name of the object was properly unique.
Thanks,
Rohit Ouhal

I thought that this was not a problem for Expression rules, are they also kept even after deletion (like ctd's)?
How did you fix the issue? am facing the same problem.

You may want to start your own thread with your specific issue, as this one is over 4 years old and ~16 Appian versions ago.
But generally, rule names must be unique.
