Issues with special character

Hello All, 
 
 We are getting some inputs from external sources and recently we discovered that appian is giving error for some special characters while decoding those characters. One such character is "" which corresponds to something like EMs in notepad++. Can someone please guide me how to get rid of this issues? Any suggestion here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Options include regex functions if you have the plugin, cleanwith(), or more probably in your case simply clean() function applied to the incoming text either before you save it or just before you display it, or if that particular pair of characters is giving you problems, substitute() function
