We understand this is unsupported but we need to find a way to extract very basic document metadata and, long story short, we want to do it directly from the kdb. What meta-data you're looking for that you cannot access via the ContentService API?

We can access via the content service but we don't have java resources to create a plugin (this is the long story).

Even if we ignore the fact that accessing KDB directly is not a supported or recommended approach, it'll be easier for you to use the JAVA API to write your required service compared to finding expertise in KX.
I suggest you contact your Appian account executive and discuss your issues so we can assist you.
