Hi,
I have a task report UI where I'm displaying tasks specific to user. When I open a task and make some changes, the changes are directly saved to the database from the interface itself. Now, after making some changes if I hit the "Close" button which is a submit button the task instance gets completed and a new task instance is assigned to the user. Due to this, the status of the task displays as "Assigned" and this misleads the user into thinking that no work has been done for that particular task. Is there any way I can submit the task page and the new task instance to display the "Accepted" status?

Is there some specific reason that you're using the internal task status labels to expose to the end users, rather than any number of other techniques, such as using custom task instance names, using database-backed assignment progress tables, etc?
I think what we are looking for a button which is "Save Draft & Close" kind of functionality. So that same task can continue for user to complete afterwords. I see detailed discussion in below thread. Shreya, please refer this.
