Hi,
Is there any API through which we can know given data type(if we pass it's id as argument) is user defined(created through System->Data Management) or default appian provided(Number, Group etc.)?

you have functions called typeOf() and typeName()
If you have the id, you can directly use typeName()
There are a selected set of data types provided by Appian. If you add all of these into a constant, you can compare to find if it was user defined or in-built.
