Hi all,
Recently been facing issues with the Email Smart Service. Often, it will fail to send an email if there are multiple attachments (PDFs). Has anyone faced issues with it before where it says "failed to process attachments" although the documents are available? It's causing me a major headache, so I'm thankful for all kinds of input.

Did you try to open a support case with Appian?
Is the account that the Email Smart Service running under have the rights to attach the referenced documents?
You mean at least reader permissions on the parent folder? That would make sense!
That is an excellent thought. Indeed the email nodes are set to be run as whoever started the process, so it could well be that is the case. I'll change them and report back if that won't fix it.

You typically use a service user with admin permissions for deployment, so that should not be an issue. But take the chance to check your user and permission setup.
The service account deployment would resolve if the nodes were set to run as who designed the process, but if they are set to run as the process initiator, that is independent of the deployment.
At any rate I'm also guessing that changing them to run as designer will resolve here.
