If you add the following to any location in your appian_log4j.properties (e.g. line 20) the DEBUG statements in the code will get printed to the application-server.log which will be helpful to monitor the status

log4j.logger.com.appian.directory=DEBUG

The appian_log4j.properties is located uneer runtime_ear|ear\\suite.ear\\resources
