Can someone explain me in-depth concept of a group type. What are the specific use cases where we have to go with creating Specific group type.
Till now I have used only custom group types and groups at technical and business level.

You can think of a Group Type as a template from which you can make your own Custom Groups. The main advantage is that you can include custom attributes in your Group instances (which you can't with the OOTB custom groups).
Thanks for your response Stewart, so will it be correct to say that group type lets user to define custom attribute to the new group type which is not generally possible with the Appian generated Custom Group Type.
Also as per Stefan, he has used it for mapping he groups to OU in the LDAP sync, will there be any other specific use cases.
