In our application when we are showing a report to the end user, users can edit the report. Is there a way we can prevent that. We want to prevent the end users to edit, modify columns, view statistics about the report generation and save a copy.
The users changes are not going to effect the report definition itself and others users will not see these changes. But still if there is a way we want to restrict these user actions to avoid any confusion....

When editing the report in Designer, there are four permissions groups: Viewer, Auditor, Editor, and Administrator. Make sure the appropriate groups are used for each category. More information is available in the documentation:

But we are not using tempo reports. We are using portal reports. I couldn't find the security permissions on the portal reports.

Ah, sorry about that. Are these process reports then? Users will need to have the proper security defined on the underlying process models in that case. More info here:

Thanks Aleksi. We have the security setup at the process model level. The users are looking at the correct data which they have access to. But the only issue is that end users can edit the report(columns etc) which may cause some confusion to the end users.

Reports are also documents. You can edit their permission under the Collaboration tab.

Thanks Mike. I have tested by giving the read-only access to the system Knowledge center(where the report documents were stored) to a user. But when I logged in to application portal with that user I am still able to edit the report.

You need to configure the Display options for the Report channel to enable/disable the appropriate controls. If you don't want the end user to edit or save a copy of the report, you can just uncheck the disaplay option that says "Show Editing Controls".
Hope this helps.

But this is a drill down report. For the main report which we are adding in a report channel we are able to control the edit permissions. But this is a report displayed to the user when clicked on a drill down link on the main report.

In this situation they can edit it but they cannot save over it. Even if they save a copy, they have no way of accessing that report anyway. And if they do not save a copy their edits are only going to be valid during the current session.
