Is there any other way to check the performance of an interface other than the performance tab? I often see interfaces that say they take 100 ms to load (or whatever number) and yet spend 20-30 seconds opening the page. There seems to be some kind of disconnect there and I am trying to figure out where the issue stems.

You can e.g. use jMeter to do performance tests from external. The performance monitoring an Appian can only measure the server processing time.
