For the "Call Web Service Smart Service", is there any limitation to the length of the Endpoint or Operation names ? ...

I would check your application-server.log. I suspect it has more to do with the configuration of the node rather than the name of the operation. If you do confirm it is the operation name, make sure to report it via Support case.
