Thanks for redirecting me to this link very helpful. But here is another situation.

Let me explain my scenario,

I have used file upload in interface  and currently saving document into the cdt fields named brokerConfirm & otherDocumentation & both these fields are of type text..

what i am thinking now that i have to create another rule input and its type will be document
and then i can use this rule input in order to save the dcoument first before saving it to the actual CDT field. 

Please let me know is it right approch ??

Trying to store document references as text is no good idea. Appian stores document references using integers. The data type "Document" manages that transparently. I highly recommend to use the types "Document" or, if not available, "Integer".

So i need to change the type to  integer either document,, But database only provide the text , integer not any document type that's why i was thinking that i need to create another rule input in the interface so whenever i select any document then that document save into the rule input that i have created..

After that i will forword the data from that input to atual CDT where i have created the fields brokerConfirm and another one please let me know and clear my confusions.

Use integer in the database and "Document" in the CDT/Record and rule inputs.

FYI Appian Automatically casts type Document to type integer when writing it in db , Just like User to "VarChar".
