Is there a way to change the file type of a file that has been created as a result of a document generation smart service? I am generating an XML file from a template (MS Project) and would like to change the file type (extension) to .mpp after the XML has been generated....

The document smart service cannot change the file extension and since there's an internal association between the document extension registered in Appian and the physical file on disk this is not something that is offered out of the box. You can create your own custom smart service to create a copy of the file with a different extension and create a new document but not updating the extension of the original one.

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious. Thanks! We'll take a look at that approach.

Hi Bryan, Were you able to change the extension of the file generated?
