I was previously using the Case Management 24.1 and have now installed the newer(24.2) version. I am aware that existing objects get overwritten. I can find all my data in the database but the record types and other objects that were generated and also the newly created objects seem to be deleted. I am facing issue in the Studio site, where the generated record types for the case category and type are deleted and therefore, I cannot create/modify the intake form. I can create a new record type, but the database tables have the previous record type uuid saved. Is there any documentation or course available as a guide to upgrade to a newer version? Has anyone found a workaround for this?

There isn't a documented workaround for this specific issue. To avoid confusion, I highly recommend recreating the missing objects or starting from scratch
