We're an Appian Cloud customer. We require a method of exporting MySQL data from our cloud environment on a regular basis, to our own local departmental MSSQL server....

I guess using mysql workbench can connect to cloud mysql instance and back up. Or can do automatic back up with some utility.

There are different options to consider:
1) Setup a VPN tunnel between Appian Cloud and your infrastructure. This would allow you to connect to your on-premise database (and other resources you might want to in the future) in a secure manner. This might even eliminate the need to export regularly since the data could be retrieved and written from Appian directly into your MSSQL server. More information can be found here:
forum.appian.com/.../Cloud_VPN_Integration.html
forum.appian.com/.../Query_Database_Smart_Service.html
2) You could use some of the available shared components to export SQL data into a format that you can then transfer through SFTP to a server hosted internally. Some of the shared components available are:
http://goo.gl/05VfuD
or
http://goo.gl/TYRsCu
and
http://goo.gl/lyrtfV
to deploy the SFTP smart services.
We’re also looking at making improvements in this area in a future release, but for the time being the two approaches mentioned above should allow you to accomplish your use case with the current Appian Cloud capabilities and shared components.

Hi Marco,
We are looking to do a similar exercise around transferring data over from MySQL to a dedicated SQL Server database for on-premise use. Have you made any progress from a product perspective?

The same two approaches mentioned earlier are still the best options today.
