Hide "Alerts" and "Tasks" icon in apps portal

Question

Is there a way to "not display or remove" the "Alerts" and the "Tasks" icon on top of the App portal screen for certain users. We don't want our end users to have access to this. I've attach a screen of what we don't want user to see. Thanks!

You can't do this through any supported means, as it would require customizing the jsp files that ship with the product.

Even if you customize as jason said, it would be reflected to all and you might not be in a position to restrict the changes to certain users.
