If the security settings are changed on folders in one environment (i.e., removing individual users' names; keeping/adding groups as per best practice), will these settings be updated in other environments if/when these folders are included in an application?

Yes when importing objects (like folders) over, all the updated definitions will be brought over, including security changes. As long as the updated folder and the folder in the other environment have the same UUID, all the changes should come through.

Thanks Jennifer! I thought I remembered someone telling me that new groups/users would be added but that you had to manually remove users/groups.Glad that's not the case.

In general you want to avoid adding individual users to security settings. As you mentioned, Appian best practice is to use groups. In security settings, groups will stay the same (assuming the same UUID), but users may not.
