Has anyone created a plugin that can take a read-only SAIL interface, and write the output to a document? (i.e. the automated alternative to asking a user to open the interface and print to pdf, or save the webpage, and then upload it).

I don't know what shared component you are talking about. As far as I know (and I have researched this quite extensively) there is no way to do this at the moment.
