Hi i am trying to configure send email smart service, i did all the changes into the custom.properties.I am able to send a email but the problem is whenever any alert is genrated by any user, for that too many emails are getting genrated, can any one let me know how to configure alert settings so that alerts should not be sent throgh email. Emails should be sent only when we use send email smart service; apart from this if some one let me know how to get emails form outside will be very helpful.......

Reading the documentation and getting familiar with it will save you a lot of time in the future, although it may seem time consuming to read a page of it, it will definitely help you to improve your knowledge about Appian, I definitely recommend going through this link to learn more about how notification settings work. Each of the settings is explained in detail in the table.
While you finish reading this section of the documentation let me summarize it here:
1. E-mail alerts can be disabled per user (each user can change his/her alert settings). In this case the e-mail alerts you want to disable is the "An error in the process has occurred" as explained here:
forum.appian.com/.../Notifications
2. You can disable them for all users adding the following property in custom.properties and restarting the engines twice as explained here
forum.appian.com/.../Configuring_Notifications
server.conf.notifications.process_exception_msg_timing=never
server.conf.notifications.task_exception_msg_timing=never
