I would require "PDF Tools" smart service in my project for several purposes. I just went through its code and found out that "PDFBox" is used as an API there whereas I have used "iText" before as it was (and is) quite popular.

I would need to use this plugin extensively, and this plugin may need to be executed a large number times. So, performance would actually play a vital role here, in order to minimize the processing time. Shall I go ahead with this plugin (using "PDFBox" API), or should I create my own plugin (using some other API, say "iText"), keeping performance into consideration ?
