Hi,

Is there a way of updating a team group from "Restricted" to "Public" as our options are greyed out unlike on a custom group.

Team's security by default is restricted. I believe, it cannot be changed. For better security control you might want to use Custom Groups.

Akhila is correct, a team is a system group type by default. As such the security of a team can not be changed.
