Plugins using proprietary technology

Does anyone have experience developing a plugin using proprietary technology? Any things we should know about, lookout for?

We might be looking at developing a custom plugin for the conversion of DOCX to PDF with a library such as Aspose or docx4j.

    It was deployed on an internal instance not cloud but I can't imagine any issues. The plugin contains a 3rd party jar to which you pass the document file path which is easily accessible via Appian's APIs. You can download test software from the site which you can use to confirm that it handles any complex templates.
