Plugins using proprietary technology

Does anyone have experience developing a plugin using proprietary technology? Any things we should know about, lookout for?

We might be looking at developing a custom plugin for the conversion of DOCX to PDF with a library such as Aspose or docx4j.

    The section Marco makes reference to is in the Cloud Deployment Guidelines.

    "Only components that meet the following guidelines will be eligible for deployment in Appian Cloud sites. The list is not all-inclusive, but instead it outlines the minimum requirements for a component to be considered Cloud approved"

    Are there any other Appian Cloud customers that are using something other than the Appian provided plugin to do DOCX to PDF conversion?
