As per my knowledge I don't think we can set a value for width and it largely depends on the value in the column and if exceeds the default space a horizontal scroll bar is displayed.

In 7.11, this is possible. You can set a "grid weight" between 1 and 10, and determine the column width that way. In older versions of Appian though, you only have the distribute and width options.
