Active process instance got archived

Is anyone aware of any incident where process is still active and got archived?
We had one incident in our production today, where the process is still active at one of the sub-process node and it got archived inso we unarchived it. We are unable to comprehend this behavior.

Attached the screenshot that shows the unarchived process.

The file you're showing at the top shows 20150620 as the archived date. Remember that if a process is archived a file gets created with the archived timestamp and the process id.

If you later unarchive the file remains in the system.

If you re-archive once more there will be another file with the same process id but different date in the name. That file, based on the name is not of a process archived recently, it's from a process archived in June 20. So clearly this process was archived, unarchived and then re-activated.

Attached you'll see how this looks in terms of *.l files
