I am new in Appian. Also implemented few of the tutorials of appian 7.11.
But still not able to get the border picture of Appian.
So can anyone please suggest me any reference application which demonstrate Appian best practices. And using which i can get real-world usage of the Appian product?

you can login to academy.appian.com/.../ and learn building/configuring an application in your environment, try integrations with connectors to external systems which can give a better picture

Training is a must!
Additionally, I also highly recommend checking out the Playbook ( http://bit.ly/1Qf4mOM) for guidelines on architecture, design, project delivery, etc.
