Is there any alternative to following deprecated PortalNotificationService class

Is there any alternative to following deprecated PortalNotificationService class & method? Public Java API documentation says it's deprecated but does not mention which alternative class to use instead.

static PortalNotificationService getPortalNotificationService(ServiceContext sc_)
Deprecated.
The Portal functionality will be removed in a future release.

For now, no replacement since Portal is still part of the product. If in the future the notifications method changes there will be a corresponding API to interact with it. You can continue to use that method if needed.

If you refer to the Alert Utilities, the answer is yes.
