Is your NULL value not really saving as NULL in the Database? When attempting to save NULL, the result is an empty string? Find out why at our new Knowledge Base article:

Is this only for specific databases or situations? I'm sat looking at a table in a MySQL database that's written to using a CDT with nulls in the fields and they're written as NULL in the table.

@philb - I have seen this when dealing with Oracle but not when dealing with SQL Server or MySQL.

The article is aimed to provide general answer for any who encounter it, not just tied to a specific database or version. We welcome your feedback if you find this relates to a specific database and you feel it should be added?

The concept of an empty string doesn't exist in Oracle so it perhaps needs a bit more detail else it could cause confusion.

So the solution given in KB still won't insert NULL into DB, correct?

Thanks for your feedback so far. That is true, although a NULL cannot be inserted in this particular situation as Appian supports many RDBMS, the KB provide alternative for checking if a value is empty (or equivalent to NULL)
