I'm generating an HTML document from a template with the smart service, I'm then saving the document to an Appian folder. I need to get the html from the document so that i can save it to the database as well as i need to display the generated html. How do i get the generated HTML into a text string so that I can save it to a database?

You may make good use of the "Text File Reader" plugin (

).

@pieterk Have you had a chance to go through the 'Text From Template Function' plugin at http://bit.ly/2dO9hvs ? As far as my understanding is considered, this might be the best fit. This plugin has a function which can substitute the keys in the HTML template with the given values and finally returns the contents of the template.

Two questions here:
1. Are you looking for the contents of the html document which is the output of 'HTML doc from template' smart service?
2. Would you like to wish the html content in a SAIL interface?

@pieterk the aforementioned plugin should let you retrieve the document (ie the generated HTML) into a text variable

I'm a bit nervous in using a plugin that seems to have last been updated a year ago, how can i be sure that it will support future versions of Appian?

@pieterk I don't think there is an answer to the question until we approach Cloud Support and take their assurance/assistance or get the plugin code run by someone who is good at plugin designing.

@pieterk It is a function as far as I know. The name of the function could be something like textfromtemplate.
