Fitnesse - DropDown field

Hello All,
I have a dropdown field having values in the format '[abc] - xyz'. When I am trying to populate this dropdown field through FitNesse it is not populating it.
I guess because the value contains brackets([]) this is happening.
Do you know any strategy to populate the field having symbols such as brackets in it. Or if there can be any other reason behind this please let me know.

Did you tried to put the literals to be escaped in between !- -! as a workaround?

E.g.: !-StringToBeEscaped-!
