Temporary documents folder

Hi, Can anybody tell me what are the possible sources for the documents that are being stored in Temporary Documents Folder (Default community>>Temporary documents knowledge center) other than "In-bound emails" where email attachments would be stored in Temp folder and "user specified" destination? we are seeing that lot of memory is consumed by Temp folder in our prod environment

Anything that explicitly selects that folder for storing data and nothing else other than that and what you mentioned.

It's not necessarily like a C:\ emp or /tmp directory in an operative system.

There are other files that are placed there as hidden then removed but that's going too much into the product architecture and since they are hidden they are not relevant to end users.

Thanks eduardo, What if i upload a email thread (.eml) as a attachment which has logos and attachments associated to it. would they be treated as a independent objects when storing into that folder?

Yes, they are split into different attachments. You'll be able to store them all in PVs by quering the attachments in the msg properties in the receive message just like any other property.
