how to get pdf file from a web service that outputs document URL or document in bytes

Hi,
We have an OCR system that scans invoices and places the file into its own repository. I want to be able to retrieve these files so that I can route them via an Appian workflow for review. Eventually, they will reside in our document management system and I need to pass the actual file to the document management system web service.
The OCR system is providing me with a web service that can return either a document URL to the pdf or the document bytes to build the pdf.
Can anyone provide any suggestions as to how I can get the file in a file format using any of the built-in smart services?
Thanks,
Gary

Great, Advanced Call Web Service will be more useful if it's a SOAP based web service. Good Luck!
