Auditng events

Hi
I have a requirement to audit the completion or failure of an end to end history of a process model, does appian send events out whenever it starts and completes a process out, since this is just for auditing i want to leverage what is already available already in the system rather than making any expensive db or webservice call just to reduce some heat on the engines.

Basically we are looking to audit the process history for each process which has completed & errored out. Is there a way for us to receive events from appian without us manually persisting information into the DB ? When a process ends/errors out, does appian spit the events so we can capture them asynchronously without putting more weight by auditing from the appian PM's to the DB.
