Web Api with document input

AFAIK, We need to develop a custom plug-in that converts BASE64 to Document.

You can send the document location as the text input and use that location to fetch the document in the process that your are triggering from web API by using SFTP smart service in that process. But for this to work document should be hosted on a SFTP server.

But we are looking for something different because we wont have access to the location of that document location.

Will starting a process through email work for your requirement. In that case you can send the document as an attachment in the email.

MikelG Usually Appian should provide the way to send the Document as an input while using POST as MediaType, but as of now, we don't have any direct way to that, because appian supports only XML, JSON, and Normal Text format.

So when it's about Sending the Doc through service, you have only few options left i.e. either Conversion to/from Base64 which needs to develop a Custom Plugin as per your requirement or

If you are aware of the document id, then you can send the document id as an input to a Process Model which can send an email having the Same as an Attachment.

I guess, I have to create the plugin myself using as reference some of the plugins already created to converto base64 from database..

Yes, that's true, i think that will be the best approach to deal with documents in Web API, for as of now
