Is there any way so that a process can be exposed as a restful web service?Or let say i want to access a process variable from an external application then i can i achieve this?...

If you want to get the values of the process variables within the process model exposed as web service then you can create another web service that acts as a callback to be called within that process model to pass the values that you want.
