Can I create files in Appian but write them to a remote server? For example, can I create an MS Word, PDF or text doc in an Appian process but write it to a folder on a remote windows server?

Yes, you can use "SFTP Smart Services Plug-in" plugin uploaded on Appian Forum - Shared Components section for sending a file over SFTP.
