Salesforce Connected System (Username-Password OAuth) Token requests

Hello everyone,

I am currently working with a Salesforce Connected System using the "Username-Password OAuth" type of authentication. I have around 20 records in sync through this connected system and a few other integrations using it. However, the Salesforce user is being overloaded with "token requests" and being locked. This leads me to think that the Connect System is not refreshing the token when it expires but before every request.

I made a test and only navigated through the system for some seconds and the Salesforce registered up to 50 token requests for the user being used in the "Username-Password OAuth". 

Has anyone faced a situation like this and was able to overcome this issue? For normal integrations I think am able to find an workaround if needed, but for the sync records will be a huge issue.
