Hi
I have exposed a process as web service. The process has few mandatory parameters with data type as Text. say param1, param2 and param3.
When i test this web service using SOAP UI, I expect an SOAP fault when these mandatory parameters are empty.
But actually, the web service successfully triggered my Appian process when param1,2, 3are empty and returned process instance id back.
Will Appian process as web service not enforce mandatory parameters not empty?
Thanks
Jhothi

Hi Jyothi, tried to replicate the same in Appian 7.7 and when invoking it was working as expecting and got a Fault..
<env:Envelope xmlns:env="
schemas.xmlsoap.org/.../">
<env:Header/>
<env:Body>
<env:Fault>
<faultcode>env:Sender</faultcode>
<faultstring>SOAP request doesn't contain a required process parameter: processVar2</faultstring>
</env:Fault>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>
Could you please verify if you have any default values provided for the process variables?

Maybe Appian is interpreting them as empty strings? Are they really marked as "Required" in the variables tab?

I think an empty string is a valid value but calling the webservice without providing the parameter at all is not. So maybe you have to add some validation in the process itself.

I marked them as required in variables tab . May be Appian is interpreting them as empty strings, not sure. Is there a way to say to the OOTB project as webservice that the parameters to contain value - not empty strings.
Thanks

I agree with the previous comment, you better handle this in the process as a validation within a gateway, that won't return an error to the caller though.

Eduardo, when we deployed the service the first time, it worked with empty strings? How did that happen?
