I had this built.... It might help depending on what you're trying to do. It allows blobs or base64 data types to retrieved or inserted into a SQL DB

Thanks for the quick response. I guess both TO and FROM data types to be a text. I mean the DB column and the Appian CDT field. Am i right?

there's no need for a CDT to retrieve a document from the DB, you build a SQL string and the node executes is, retrieves the image, saves to a document library and returns the DocID within Appian. You don't actually store/ pass out the document string.

It doesn't look like there is a type for an image. Check out the documentation of DB types to Appian CDT types that you can include in XSDs:
