AFAIK this is not possible without major modifications to the base product. Do these devices still have no network interface?

Then the devices should be accessible from the Appian server. Depending in the actual interfaces they support you can use OOTB functions or have to create plugins to communicate with them.
Modification of the base product is not recommended or supported in any way.

AFAIK there are adapters available that translate interfaces like serial port or USB to ethernet. So depending on what you want to do it should be possible to connect almost any device to Appian.

What about a wrapper? Could you build a Web Service (in C#, for example) that can be invoked from Appian and that internally uses the DDL?

@carloss, Yes that can be on workaround to achieve the requirement. Is there anything inside OOTB we have any functionality ? or other-way workaround ?
