Web API Data Limit

Hi,
Is there any limit on the data which can be passed by an external system to Appian through a WebAPI?
Our use case is end user will upload a csv/excel file on portal and after basic validations, it will be passed over to Appian to perform the next level of validations (this process could involve invoking a service as well) and it should respond back with errors if any (one/more for each row uploaded) else save the data and that too respond back in synchronous way.
Any other better way to achieve this?
Thanks.

Thanks Sally. I am actually looking for the data limit which can be passed to Web APIs in header and the body if we go with the Web API approach and in a synchronous way.
