Real time issue with merging process models and common components

We have multiple projects are planned. Multiple development teams are working on same set of components for various releases span cross different timeframe, they often tend to change same set of process models or common components for their tasks. We have real time issue where we need to manage source code same time we cannot afford to lose the one changes, also not willing to introduce any business impact because of merging of process models for different projects.

We need source code control solution for handling process models and its different versions with various project. Anyone has used any tools or approaches to solve these issues.
