Hello all,
I hope you can help me.
We are regularly facing an issue with the assignment of a tasks within a process model. This happens when the process starts and, at that moment , at least one of the assigned users has its Appian account deactivated.
A real example:
Process Instance started the 26/11/2023.
The process is “stuck” at a task.
That task is assigned to the users within the process variable “assignedUsers”:
This variable had two values (usernames).
One of the two users was not active by that time (26/11/2023), since it was deactivated the 25th of october 2023 and created again the 13th of December 2023.
This lead to a problem, because the 1st instance of the process had no assignee. We had to run again the task, and only after we manually start it, it would have the valid assignees:
Is this a known issue by Appian?
We face it a lot. This is not really convenient

A best practice is to use groups for assignment.
Then I design my tasks in a way that it can be either completed within a very short period, or the user decides to turn it into a follow-up that is persisted to the database.
