We have a group of basic users provided with "process administration"

We have a group of basic users provided with "process administration" rights to several process models in our development environment. They are unable to delete process instances due to "insufficient priveliges" for these models although the documented role map indicates they can do this. How do we allow a few basic users delete process instances? They are not members of any system groups. Thanks!...
