I am checking on how to develop a process where we can then allow a person to review similar tasks and then do a mass approval or rejection for the tasks. I realize mobile feature has a nice swipe feature for each task to make approval easy. We do not have mobile at this time, so, my thought is to update the process with the tasks for approval with receive messages. Have another process have send messages that will communicate with the processes. The approval process will review the tasks active and then show them in a grid. I would default to being approved. Click submit and the process will then loop through to do a send message to approve the task. How does this solution sound? Any other ideas?

Would inline approval be a valid option as well? It allows users to approve task from the task list without having to open the task.

This is a 7.3 type feature only? We are using 6.6.1 and will be upgrading 1st qtr next year. I looked at the documentation link. It would be nice to have screen shots of what this will look like. This could work for our use case. We will soon have an environment up to test this.

This feature should exist in 6.6.1 as well. Here is our documentation for inline approval from 6.6.1.

We will definitely look into seeing if we can get more clarity on the documentation. The inline approval appears as a link with the word "approve" right next to the task on the task list.

Wow - nice - However - another question. I see the task in Tempo and it only shows the task name. How do you get the task to show pvs values? Without the values, how do you know what your approving?

I suppose you can put the values into the task name. Hopefully you have a better answer than that....

Yes, you are correct. The inline task are generally given intuitive names like
pv!user is requesting approval for pv!reason
This allows the task list to remain short and simple as well as mobile. A user is still able to open up the task for a more detailed view.

I would hope this is expanded to not have it all in the task name. I can see it work.
More detail may be needed and a nicer layout would be good. A task entry in Tempo is taking up a chunk of space for once liner.

Tim,
I thought of another question. Our environment does not default to Tempo yet. If you make a task an inline task, will the new task email with a URL point to Tempo or to our default setup?

The link from the task notification email will send users directly to the active task in the Portal Apps. However, as of 7.3 the link will now send users to their default environment and therefore they will see the task in tempo if that is set as the default. For more details here is the link to our release notes which also contains a link to our updated notification documentations.
