I am trying to assign a task to a group with 5 users. But when task is assigned to group i am not receiving any Task assigned notification email.
whereas when i assign it to a single user then i receive an notification email.
Can you please suggest what all settings i can check?

AFAIK this is a personal setting. Make sure you have this option enabled:
Former Member This setting is already enabled.
And can you confirm that this option is enabled for the task in question?

You should double-check, but I don't remember any group settings (off the top of my head) that might affect this.
Were you guys able to figure out what is going on here? Having similar issue.
If the task is chained and the chain is not broken, I think there are no email notifications.
It might sound stupid, but check the spam and mail rules, also check that the mail server is working ok.
In My scenario, User Input task was in Sub Process & i used Start Process node to start the Sub Process. I replaced the "Start Process" node with "Sub Process" and i was able to get default Task assigned notification.
