Is this the intended way of how the process should flow?

How is the XOR configured?

What is the value of the process variable the XOR is checking?

What did you try and why? What was the outcome?

i wanted to see the form in tempo action, and if i enter the data  and click on submit the data should get stored in db and go to end event

OK, And the value of pv!buttonvalue is what? Click "Process Details" button in the active instance.

the value is submit

OK. So if you want to get this to work, you would have to change the XOR to a real comprising like: pv!buttonvalue = "submit". This is not best practice, but would get you going.
