Legacy process instances migration

Certified Senior Developer

Hi all,

we are at an early stage of a large migration project from a very heterogeneous system to Appian, we have still little informations and the question is how to approach the migration of process instances from the old system to the new one. Do you have experience in this regard? Assuming you have the data in db, is there a good way to generate the new instances? Or is there a convenient data format from which to generate instances (e.g. json)? I am also wondering if there is any connection with restoring processes during an Appian upgrade from Appian_OLD to the new version.

Thanks in advance!

Migration of processes is almost impossible and not worth the effort. Take the invest to start fresh. Migration of data is as with any other system.

I think there is a plugin to import some form of BPMN. But that does not result in a working process but in a bunch of nodes which you must configure one-by-one. And typically the way of designing processes is different for each system. In the end you would have a process which does not fit the Appian system.
