I'm trying to connect using a query database service to connect to a custom

I'm trying to connect using a query database service to connect to a custom datasource. I use the format of <machinename>:<port number>;databaseName=<dbName> as is indicated in the online dumentation, but I keep getting the following error "IO Error: Invalid number format for port number" I have it set up like this machine:1433;databaseName=dbname. I verified the port number as 1433, what other format is there? Anyone have the same issue? I'm on 7.4. Thanks...
